This is the case because most people think that windshield wiper replacement is a difficult and complicated task, but the fact is that it can be done literally in a matter of minutes, if simple instructions are followed.
Also, many drivers have the opinion that it is unnecessary for them to get involved in such business because there are professionals who know exactly what they are doing and who will do the job more efficiently than them. The fact is that windshield wiper replacement is quite basic and that everyone should know how to do it, in case that they do not have the time to take their car to the mechanic.
Windshield Wiper Replacement – How to Do It Yourself
It is a well known fact that almost everyone does not pay attention to their vehicle’s windshield wipers until it rains. And when it eventually rains, and this moment always comes, drivers often get frustrated with their windshield wipers because they do not work properly, meaning that they are not able to clean the windshield efficiently enough to see ahead of the vehicle.
In order for this to be avoided, windshield wipers are recommended to be checked and replaced every six months, but it is always a better idea to replace them even more often, just to be sure that they give the best results possible. There is absolutely no reason in the world for not replacing windshield wipers regularly, knowing that they are cheap and necessary for safe driving. Windshield wiper replacement can be done in a few easy steps:
- First, the old blade needs to be removed, and this is done by pulling the wiper arm until it is in vertical position and removing the blade by pressing the small tab which holds the blade and the arm together and sliding it down from the arm.
- The next thing that needs to be done is placing the new blade on the hand, and this is done by remembering how the old blade was connected and connecting the new one in the same way.
- This process needs to be repeated two times, on both of the windshield wipers, and it should not take more than 10 minutes to complete, from the start to the finish of the process.
It is important to remember that once the old blade is removed from the arm, the arm will remain without the rubber, meaning that the metal parts of the arm will be able to damage the windshield. Because of this, it is crucial that the arm is treated gently and put easily on the windshield while replacing the blade. Also, it is highly recommended that different types of blades are used for different seasons, winter and summer blades, as each of these is specifically designed for different weather conditions. |
