conditions, thus improving the level of safety, both of the driver and of all the passengers in the vehicle. Windshield wipers, wiper blades and motors are generally long lasting. Nevertheless, it is important to know what to do if it comes to the point where the wipers or any of its parts need to be removed.

Windshield Wiper Removal – How to do it?

Every windshield wiper consists of three main parts: the wiper arm, the wiper blade and the motor that keeps the windshield wiper working. Any of these three parts can be removed if it happens that they start working improperly or stop working altogether. Although there are many different types of windshield wipers, most of them are similar when it comes to windshield wiper removal.

  • Windshield wiper blade removal – in most cases, the wiper blade will be the part that needs to be removed, and this is easy enough to do. First, the windshield wiper arm is pulled up until it is in the vertical position. Second, the wiper blade is slid off by pushing down on the tab that holds the blade and the arm together.
  • Windshield wiper arm removal – the removal of the arm is also easy in most cases.  First, the area where the arm is connected to the vehicle needs to be located. Then, if the windshield washer nozzle is attached to the arm, it needs to be removed by unclipping. After this, the stud nut needs to be found and because it is protected from the elements, it will usually be covered by a cap which needs to be removed. Finally, the stud nut is removed and this will allow the windshield wiper arm to be removed as well.

Sometimes, it will be necessary to remove the windshield wiper motor. Doing this is a bit more complicated than removing the windshield wiper arm or blade removal and it is best that people do not attempt to do it themselves without at least consulting a professional. The reason for this is the fact that there is a chance of breaking something while trying to remove the windshield wiper motor, and this can result in spending a lot more money than paying someone professional to do it in the first place.

Windshield Wiper Removal – Why Is It Important to Know How To Do It?

Also, it might not be possible to always have the time to take the car to the mechanic and it is useful in these cases to know how to do minor repairs yourself.
